In case you were wondering how the reclassification will take place, VARA has posted this chart to help us understand the migration. http://vara.org/forms/AgeGroupStructure2013.pdf think snow! Stephan Hope this posting find everyone well and ready to move into the second half of the season. The Bromley crew has continued to do a great job of providing us a terrific playground, despite mother nature’s evil efforts. Most of our athletes will be around this weekend(due to postponed events) to enjoy some training before the crazy schedule’s of February and March kick in. Also, we are planning a BBQ for Saturday(28th) and would welcome any assistance and/or donations to help offset the cost/efforts of providing this wonderful fare for our members and staff. This weekend’s events include an exciting boarder/skier cross competition on the Plaza hill for Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday afternoon we will be hosting the second Pabst race of the year on the East Meadow. These events are always fun and are great opportunity to work off your volunteer commitments. We would like to remind everyone that our biggest fundraiser of the year is also approaching, Febfest. We are always looking for help in gathering outstanding auction items, please help our club by seeking out items from your business and personnel contacts. Let’s us know what you come up with. If you haven’t heard the GS race at Mount Snow has been postponed. That being said we will be training GS Friday for two sessions. Saturday we would like to kids bring both GS and SL skis. We are going to run a panel SL to quicken the kids up. This is a very good drill for the kids GS. Of course we will also be training GS on Saturday as well. Sunday will be a full day of GS!! As far as the Mount Snow race it has been rescheduled for Sunday Feb 5th. Which is between the Super G camp and the Super G race that Monday. I hope all that plan to race Super G have skis lined up. It will be a very busy week and we don’t need to be running around looking for skis last minute. Kids that are racing in the Super G 2/6 have to attend the Super G camp 2/4. Not to worry that there is a GS race in between, Mount Snow is a very easy GS and this weekend we will have them prepared for it.
If you haven’t been receiving emails please email Korpi: mjkorpi@hotmail.com or text him 802 289 1533 We are having another one of our world class BBQ’s this weekend. Keep in mind there are no “free lunches”, please contribute to the jar so we can continue to do it! Thank you….Stephan We have a master race tomorrow, which should go pretty quick and snowboard race next weekend. And we are looking for help with our biggest fundraising event of the year…FEBFEST! More details to follow. Great weekend this past weekend. We were very happy on how the kids performed, even with first race gritters and home mountain pressure. Most kids got at least one solid run down the hill. Their hard work is really starting to show!! As you may have seen on the news or looked out your window we are actually getting the white stuff!!! So things like they have been this winter are up in the air. Friday we will be able to run GS in the afternoon on the Meadow. Korpi will be around Friday morning for anyone that can make it for some GS free skiing. Saturday and Sunday we will be training GS in the afternoon sessions and lite free skiing and drills in the morning sessions. Monday the 16th we have our first GS race at Stratton. Same procedure as the Bromley SL. Booted up and registered by 8:30.. The snow has been very hard over there and we expect even with the snow we are getting we will be getting down to the hard stuff. So sharp skis are a must!!!
As always if there are any questions email or call Korpi mjkorpi@hotmail.com 802 289 1533. Thanks for all the great efforts on the hill this last holiday break, We do understand it was not the best of hill conditions, but we used the limited conditions to our benefit. The coming weekend should offer a wider terrain selection. We will be host a number of events this weekend, so please if you can lend a hand do so. At this time, I would also like to mention a growing concern we have with the our clubhouse. During the holiday week our clubhouse was way too messy. Plastic bags, half eaten nachos, french fries and a lot of other garbage all over the place. In plain it, was treated without any respect. I was also made aware of some of athletes not treating each other with mutual respect. Both of these situations are entirely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Please talk with your athlete/child about this situation, we(coaches/staff) can not be downstairs at all times to monitor the athletes behavior and cleanliness. The only alternative would be to close the clubhouse to all but ski storage, something none of us want to do. Thanks for your help in straightening out our situations. This Friday there will be a race for the older athletes on East Meadow. But for anyone one that can make it we will have SL training on a different trail. Korpi will be at the mountain all day Friday so if you are coming he will be ready to go when the lifts turn at 9. As for Saturday there is another race on the Meadow. WE WILL TRAIN THAT DAY ON THE MEADOW, that afternoon when the race is complete. We will probably have a lite morning of free skiing and video, so not to get the kids tired before Sundays race!!! But please be prepared for a longer day Saturday. We will set a very similar course Saturday afternoon as the first run of Sundays race; so full attendance will be very beneficial!!! As for Sundays race please have the kids ready to be on the lift at 8:30 for inspection! That means have them registered and ready to go. Parents this year at the Bromley races you must sign a waiver for the athletes at registration!!!! Good luck, and see you all this weekend!! Saturday 1/21/12 7-10pm…Celebrate with the Swingin in Vermont Band. Go to https://store.bromley.com/e-commerce/itemList.aspx?node_id=70376 and purchase your tickets today, as of this posting less than 50 tics left. |
