J6 Parents and Athletes,

Despite winter’s best efforts to be a no-show, we still have some great skiing at Bromley.  This weekend we are looking forward to our second Pabst race of the season on Sunday at 1pm.  Registration will take place at the BOC starting at 11am.

Now that School Slope is open and available, we will try to take full advantage of the space.  I’d like to practice turns, edging and some pole plants in preparation for Sunday’s race.

See you on the mountain!

If you haven’t heard the GS race at Mount Snow has been postponed. That being said we will be training GS Friday for two sessions. Saturday we would like to kids bring both GS and SL skis. We are going to run a panel SL to quicken the kids up. This is a very good drill for the kids GS. Of course we will also be training GS on Saturday as well. Sunday will be a full day of GS!!

As far as the Mount Snow race it has been rescheduled for Sunday Feb 5th. Which is between the Super G camp and the Super G race that Monday. I hope all that plan to race Super G have skis lined up. It will be a very busy week and we don’t need to be running around looking for skis last minute. Kids that are racing in the Super G 2/6 have to attend the Super G camp 2/4.  Not to worry that there is a GS race in between, Mount Snow is a very easy GS and this weekend we will have them prepared for it.

If this is the first race away from Bromley this weekend, it might be a good idea to have a  printed receipt and or printed membership cards with you when you go to another mountain for your races this weekend. this could avoid undue confusion when registering at events. Also, ask for a copy of the event schedule if they have one. This should give you times of when you/your athlete need to be somewhere.

Hi Folks,
Lots going on this weekend. Bromley’s 75th anniversary party and more importantly, the J5/6 first USSA race at Magic. Registration starts at 7:30 in the base lodge (2nd floor). Usually inspection starts early (8:15-ish) so the earlier all of the BOC crew is ready, the more time we have to inspect the course and get to where we need to be.
Some helpful tips regarding this race (particularly if this is your first USSA race):
1. Label all clothing
2. Wear pants that have side zips
3. Put bib on over GS suit before heading out
4. Make sure your athlete uses the bathroom prior to heading out
5. Please make sure your child has a current VARA and USSA membership, otherwise your child will not be allowed to race!!!

J5 coaches at Magic will be Patrick (203-253-9354) and David Tse (dtse86@gmail.com). Dave Wehrle is also available to answer questions (203-779-9231). I will not be there, as some of you already know. I wish all of the J5s a great race, safe and fun!

Lastly, there is another video production available for viewing. GO to youtube.com. In the top search enter “suekramer1″
Then click on “suekramer1″
This should get you into my channel with the latest videos.

All the best,
Sue

J6 Parents and Athletes,

I’m beginning to think that Mother Nature is on vacation and her evil twin is in town for a few days.  After spectacular snow to ski on last weekend, it warmed up just to rain this week, then temps plummeted again.  Things seem to be getting back to normal, with temps projected in the 20s this weekend.  We still need that big dump, so if you end up in chair #1 or stop on the wheels, be sure to wish for lots of snow.

Last weekend our first Pabst race was a big success.  With sunny skies, great snow and super skiing, everyone seemed to have a good time.  I was pleased with the support of all the parents and the rest of the BOC seemed to be cheering from the sidelines.  This weekend we’ll follow up on that success with some continued technical training which will include some course work, probably on School Slope.  Our second race is just a week away on Sunday, January 29.

Think snow and see you Saturday morning,

Coach John
