Thank you to all that have reached out to us with concern.
The Green Mountains sustained significant and in many cases, devastating damage. Many roads and bridges were closed or washed away entirely. Quite a few Vermonters sustained significant flood damage to their homes and businesses. The Killington base lodge collapsed when the foundation was undermined by water. Londonderry was underwater. The list goes on and on…
However, I am glad to report that, to the best of my knowledge, the BOC staff made it through the storm safely and in good shape. Neither Bromley or the club sustained any significant damage and Bromley has reopened the thrill zone and Zip rider.
I am truly astounded at the resilience of Vermonters as many road repairs are already done and significant progress has been made to open up temporary roads, such as the single lane track from Bridgewater to Killington this morning, which allowed limited egress to the folks stranded up there. The situation is improving everyday and we hope to be back to a semi normal life very soon.
Summer’s over and its not too soon to start thinking about your equipment needs for the upcoming season. Last year supplies of race skis were tight and all indications are that inventories will be the light this season too. Contact your favorite ski shop as soon as possible. If you need advice, the head coaches are the sames as last year, with exception of Morgan Korpi whom has taken over the J3 slot.
The mountain asked me to pass along that the Bromley Ski Shop is now under new management and is having a 3 day tent sale this weekend! If you are planning to come up for the last blast of summer, please stop by. Also, season passes are now on sale for the upcoming season.
Dave and Amy are feverishly working on the BOC renewals and they will be sent out very soon. Please note that we will be asking for volunteering commitments with your renewal, so please start thinking about what you would like to do. Whether its working on races, fundraising or JISP, our club cannot function without 100% member participation.
Think Snow!
