Annual Meeting Agenda Febuary 19th 2012

To all active Bromley Outing Club Members;

The 2012 Bromley Outing Club Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday 19 February at 5:00pm on the 2nd floor of the base lodge at Bromley Mountain Peru, VT.

The agenda for this meeting is attached. In addition to standard annual meeting agenda items, the board of directors is presenting the membership with suggested changes/revisions to the current By-Laws of the Bromley Outing Club. (Current By-Laws with suggested changes also attached for review).

There are five (5) Board of Director terms that will end this year. The nominating committee is presenting 5 names (see agenda) as the slate of nominees for consideration and vote at the annual meeting. Reminder, that two percent (2%) of the membership eligible to vote may submit to the chairperson of the nominating committee, in writing over their signatures, any additional nominees for director. Signed petitions must be received not less than five (5) days prior to the 19th of February. Petitions may be delivered to Amy W. Zimmer c/o (Richard Mourey) at the Bromley Outing Club Office, Bromley Mountain Peru, VT.

JISP Clinic Update

Due to the inclement weather that is forecasted, Bromley will be suspending operations Thursday and Friday.
We will be changing the Friday JISP instructor clinic from Friday the 16th to Friday the 23rd .
We will still be holding Saturdays clinic as Bromley will be open!
Both Clinics will meet at 8:30 in the base lodge behind the fireplace.
I hope all of you that were able to make it this Friday can make it next Friday.

Instructors needed for JISP

Do you love to ski or snowboard? Do you want to ski/snowboard mid-week and avoid the crowds? Why not share your passion with a local youngster? You’ll have a lot of fun, earn free day passes and help continue the volunteer support that has keep the Junior Instructional Snow sports Program (JISP) going for over 50 years.

JISP is run by the Bromley Outing Club in conjunction with Bromley Mountain Ski Area. Area children in grades 3-12 are released from school one afternoon a week for 10 weeks for ski and snowboard instruction. Volunteer instructors work one or more afternoons, Tuesday – Friday, from January 3 through March 16. Over 700 students enroll per year.

Never taught before? DOESN’T MATTER. We’ll find a group for you. Think you’re not good enough? NOT SO! Required, preseason ‘how to teach’ clinics for skiers and snowboarders are scheduled for Friday, December 16 and Saturday, December 17 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Beyond the rewards of working with children to promote a life-long recreational skill, volunteers earn day mountain passes and work with skilled professionals to improve their own mountain sport skills. There is always a high need for snowboard instructors. Consider: we have ‘graduates’ of our snowboarding program (active since 1988) now teaching and we have non-boarders who effectively teach beginning snowboarding. The Latest Update for the Weekend

As you may know our 60th birthday party(12/10/11) is kicking off our first weekend here at Bromley. Please be sure to reserve your ticket ASAP, they are going fast. We would love to see folks from all the 6 decades join us at the Southern Vermont Arts Center to enjoy fine food, friendship and frolicking. We are all truly lucky to be part of an organization so steeped in history and community service as the BOC. Call us at the club for your ticket today.

Last night we received a couple of inches of snow and the snow guns are working overtime to provide us with skiing for SUNDAY morning. The lifts are scheduled to start at 9, we would like to see everyone at the club to help us start the new season. Groups will be meeting at 8.30 in front of the club. Please keep in mind that terrain will be limited and many other groups will be sharing the limited trails. We would suggest that you leave those new skis at home for this first weekend. As the Bromley website has posted, fast skiing(GS turns) will not be tolerated. At 11 we will have our parent informational meeting in the Boar’s Head. This is your chance to ask those questions you always wanted to, we will also have Dr. Matt Gammons talk with us about concussions and how they effect your athlete. Lead coaches will break out in to smaller groups for your questions and information about their programs.
