This weekend is going to be action-packed! On Saturday, Bromley is having it’s annual Spring Fling on Saturday and we’ll be at Mount Snow on Sunday for Youth Pay Your Own Age Day. Although there a ton of things to do on Sat., I will still be holding park training all day. The forecast is calling for warm temps on Sat. with temps in the mid to high 50’s. Clounds move in on Saturday night so Sunday will be overcast.

Below is a detailed schedule for Saturday’s events at Bromley:

Sun Mountain Flyer Open 10:00am-4:00pm Cost:$20 for 2 rides or $15 for a single ride.

Trampoline Things 10:00am-3:00pm FREE Rides

FREE Face Painting 10:00am-3:00pm

BBQ on the Sun Deck 11:00am-2:00pm

Pond Skimming- Starts at 1:00pm. 10 & Under division will go first in their own specially made “pond”, followed by the Adult division in the large pond. The 10 & Under division is just for fun, but the Adult Division will be receiving prizes for “Best Costume” and for “Best Technique”. Please see the rules below for details.

Live Entertainment – Equalites Reggae Band- 2:30pm-5:30pm in the Wild Boar Tavern

Snow Volley Ball- starts at 4:00pm on a court located in front of the Sun Deck. This will be informal, pick-up games only.

***If any athletes would like to Pond skim, please make sure to bring some dry clothes in case you do not make it across the pond!

Sunday at Mount Snow: Michelle Burnham has offered to chaperone and if there are any other parents who would be willing to do so, it would be greatly appreciated. We will leave Bromley @ 8am and return to Bromley @ 4pm.

This weekend, we will be at Bromley both days. The weather looks a bit wet with light showers on Sat. and a bit steadier rain on Sunday. I hope everyone plans on training as these conditions provide some soft snow which is very conducive to learning new tricks. We do have the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge on Saturday and race registration begins at 8am on the top floor of the lodge. I think all our athletes would enjoy this and should compete. On Sunday, we’ll be focusing on freestyle in the Halo Park in addition to some all-mountain switch runs. The season is winding down and our whole team has been pushing it, especially this past weekend which was fun to watch.

Below, are the remaining training dates. We will be going to Mount Snow next Sunday for Pay Your Own Age Day and if there are any parents willing to chaperone, please let me know.

3/13: Bromley Training/Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge @ Bromley (for those interested)
3/14: Bromley Training
3/20: US Open Snowboarding/Bromley Spring Fling. I will be avoiding the US Open madness and will be training at Bromley for those interested. Spring Fling is also that weekend which includes a pond skim, cardboard race, and live music.
3/21: Mount Snow Pay Your Own Age Day (for youth). I encourage all athletes to make the day trip to Mount Snow as their park is the best in the East and we always have a ton of fun there.
3/27: Backyard BBQ Rail Jam @ Bromley (in front of base lodge deck). I hope all our athletes will participate in this super fun rail jam!
3/28: Last day

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to shoot me an email any time.

I just wanted to send a quick update and schedule for the second half of President’s week. All is gone super well so far! All of our athletes have been pushing it very hard and everyone’s hard work is really paying off. We have been training a ton in Lord’s Prayer as the park has been in great shape this week. Lex, Chris, and I have seen a few new tricks added to everyone’s bag which has been fun to watch and several of our athletes are now beginning to spin some sort of variation off from the middle 35 footer.

Today, we had an excellent day of park and freeriding where we rode all over the mountain but the sweet spot was really in the Pushover woods where you could find some 8-12″ drifts in certain areas. Stay tuned to the new iride flip edit coming up soon for the pow footage.

Rest of Week

2/18: We will spend the morning riding park and Lex and I will have gates setup on East Meadow for some GS training (in prep for Friday’s race) in East Meadow. We strongly encourage all athletes to participate in this.

2/19: We have a double header USASA race on East Meadow. Several of our athletes are competing and anyone who is not competing will spend the day freeriding and riding park.

2/20: PARK, PARK, and more PARK. Due to most of our athletes not having Stratton passes, the schedule has changed and we will be training park at Bromley.

2/21: Stratton USASA Slopestyle Event. For those competing, we will met in the Strattton Base Lodge @ 7:30 sharp. For those not competing, Lexi will be coaching switch riding, park, and carving drills at Bromley.

Hey all,

I hope that everyone is stoked for President’s Week! We will have 7 straight days of solid training including 3 USASA events (Slalom, GS, and Slopestyle) in the latter part of next week. We also have our annual Febfest to kick things off on Saturday which is always a blast and I encourage all parents/athletes to come.

Mountain/Park update: It has snowed 4″+ at the mountain and the hill is in excellent condition. The weekend weather is expected to be mild with temps in the 20’s and the long-term forecast looks as though we’ll receive snow periodically throughout the week which always welcomed. The parks are currently in good shape and tomorrow we will be reshaping all takeoffs, the wallride, and landings in all 3 parks and will build 1-2 new jumps in Bonanza as well. The parks should be in tip top shape for this weekend.

Febfest
As I am sure most of you know, our annual BOC Febfest is this Saturday and is a super fun event. It all kicks off at 7pm with the torchlight parade. I suggest that any parents/athletes who plan on participating in the torchlight are set and ready to go @ 6:30pm to guarantee a torch and spot in the parade. If we could also get all BOC snowboarders to come dressed in proper attire (iride hoodies) that would be great as well.

**If anyone has not pre-registered for next week’s USASA events, please do so to guarantee your spot in the event. If need be, registration form is attached.

Also, several athletes have inquired about the new iride mountain stickers and there will be more available this weekend in addition to some mini stickers (for bindings, goggles, notebooks, etc…) as well. If anyone has any questions regarding next week’s schedule or anything else, please feel free to shoot me an email.

Regards,

In the 12-13 breaker boys age group, Dakota Torrey placed 10th on both days out of 22 athletes in a very strong division. Dakota was super close to making into the 3rd round on a strategic pass, but was unfortunately caught up in a jumble where 3 riders went down, including Dakota. This is Dakota’s first year racing BX and he finished 6th place overall in BX in the Southern Vermont Series out of 25 competitors. Good stuff Dakota!

Our last competitor Amanda Burnham had a great weekend. She placed 5th on Sat., and followed through with an unbelievable performance on Sunday’s event by receiving a bronze 3rd place finish in her age group! We are super pumped for Amanda as we have watched her improve leaps and bounds during her first year training/racing BX.

Congrats to all the competitors and please stay tuned for more updates to come.
