The Bromley Outing Club\u2019s Junior Instructional Snowsports Program (JISP) was founded and is run each season to benefit local area school children. The program was started in 1951 by Sally Pabst and Betsy Fowler and has a long history of volunteerism and supporting the local community. Our aim is to make skiing and snowboarding accessible to everyone. Participation in skiing and snowboarding gets your student outside in the winter, provides an opportunity to learn a life-long sport, and learn skills on and off the snow with their peers. Students are dismissed\/self-dismiss early from school one afternoon per week and instructed to ski and snowboard by volunteers under the direction of the BOC over 8 weeks of lessons. There are great opportunities for parents and friends in the community to earn lift tickets through volunteering, much of which does not require skiing or snowboarding. Who Can Join?<\/strong>
\nThere are two programs offered for the Junior Instructional Ski Program.\u00a0 JISP is for your students who are in 3rd thru 8th grade, and KAP is for your K-2nd grade students in participating schools.\u00a0The difference between the two programs is that the KAP students are taught by paid Bromley Mountain ski and snowboard instructors and the JISP program is taught by volunteer instructors who are trained and operate within the Bromley Outing Club organization. We are also excited that Vermont Adaptive Sports will continue to offer individualized ski and snowboard instruction to students who have a physical or cognitive disability. The program runs Tuesday thru Friday \u2013 your student\u2019s weekly attendance day is dependent upon their school\u2019s planned participation day, which is noted in the registration linked above. Lessons happen from 1:00-3:00pm (12:00pm-2:00m on Tuesday and Thursday). Students in JISP and KAP may not skip their lessons or use their pass to access the lift without their instructor until lessons are complete. Bromley does offer a local school discounted season pass for JISP schools, and parents are welcome to arrange for their students to go skiing or snowboarding, unsupervised and separate from the JISP program.<\/p>\n

The JISP 2026\/27 program begins on Tuesday January 5, 2027, with the last day of the program on Friday March 5, 2027. The program does not operate for one week in February. There is no JISP or KAP instruction the week of 2\/14-2\/20, 2027.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Students may continue skiing or snowboarding after their lesson each week until the mountain closes at 4:00pm. This is not supervised by Bromley Mountain or the Bromley Outing Club and is permitted if parents or guardians allow their student to continue skiing with friends and trusted adults.<\/p>\n

Additionally, there have been 10 Sundays throughout the season that your student\u2019s JISP pass will give them lift access at no additional charge, beginning at 11:30am. Please see our JISP calendar HERE<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Program pricing for 2026\/27 is $150 for the JISP program and $250 for the KAP program. Financial aid is available, and scholarship applications must be completed using this registration site. The deadline for scholarship applications is November 1<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Seasonal ski and snowboard rentals are available at a reduced rate for the program. You are required to come to Bromley before classes begin to get your photo taken and pick up your pass.
