Name: Chris Daley, Head U10 Alpine Coach

Tell us about yourself:
My wife, Abby, and I moved our family from Connecticut to Dorset eight years ago, primarily because we were spending so much time skiing in Vermont. We have five boys, all of whom have come through the Bromley Outing Club (BOC) program. I have been a lifelong skier, growing up playing hockey and skiing. My family had a farmhouse behind Magic Mountain, and we spent many winters skiing at both Magic and Bromley. We also enjoyed skiing out west and in Europe during family vacations. After graduating from St. Lawrence, Abby and I spent a season in Montana, where I first started teaching skiing and began to seriously focus on the technical aspects of the sport.
What excites you about coaching at the BOC?
I enjoy the opportunity to engage the kids, encouraging them to think differently about their skiing and their individual progression. It is a pleasure to watch the athletes develop and improve, and to see the life lessons that skiing naturally imparts.
What is your favorite trail at Bromley?
That’s a hard question because it truly depends on the day, which is what I love about Bromley! If pressed, I would have to say Twister/Twister.
What do you do in the off-season?
I spend a lot of time sailing, golfing, and cycling.
What makes the BOC such a special program?
I believe the BOC has a great culture. It successfully creates a wonderful balance between the competitive aspects of the sport, developing life skills, and instilling a lifelong love for skiing.
Is there anything else you would like parents or athletes to know about you?
I follow a collaborative approach to coaching. We are all a team here, and honest and clear communication between the athletes, parents, and coaches is key to having a successful and fun time on the hill.
