Thanksgiving Training Camp FAQs:

  • What does a training day look like?
    • Training days will look very similar to a typical weekend program training day, albeit at a different location. We’ll meet as a group in time for first lift access and begin each day with observed free skiing and drills. Sunday will be focused entirely on observed free skiing and foundational drills – “knocking the rust off”. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will begin with drills and transition into a 2-hour block on a designated training lane to set gates, ranging from brushes and stubbie gates to panel slalom courses. As with the weekend program, lunch will be unsupervised before re-grouping for the afternoon session. We will likely ski through the lunch break on Wednesday (pack snacks in jackets!) to end just after mid-day to accommodate travel schedules.
  • What is the expected athlete to coach ratio?
    • We expect to be at 6:1, with a maximum of 8:1.
  • Will my athlete need to be a US Ski & Snowboard member prior to camp?
    • Yes!  All athletes will need to be registered for the 2022-2023 season prior to camp. Reminder, rates go up October 15th Register HERE at My USSA
  • Can athletes from other programs join the camp?
    • Yes! Any US Ski and Snowboard Alpine member from the southern Vermont council as well as BOC program alumni can join us. Please fill out the registration form and indicate which club your athletes train at or will train at during the 2022/23 season. There is a BOC supporting membership that you will need to purchase at $50 per individual or $75 per family  – we will bill this after registration is closed, by November 4, 2022 for any non-members.
  • What is the plan if there is a low snow situation and limited terrain?
    • We have a “force Majeur” cancellation policy with the resort. If the terrain is too limited to hold the camp safely and most effectively, we will cancel and can do so right up until the week of our planned arrival. We expect to make this call before Saturday November 12th. Rooms and tickets will be refunded through the resort and the camp fee will be refunded by the BOC. Because we will all be doing our snow dances early and often this season, this will not be an issue.
  • My athlete can only make it for a portion of the camp, is it possible to sign up for fewer than four days of training?
    • yes, when you go through the registration process, there are per day options that may be selected.
  • Is there any possibility for additional training days?
    • If you are interested in any additional training days, there is a possibility for a small group to train prior to the start of camp. This depends on snow conditions and the number of athletes who would join the group. Please email Mike Healy if you are interested in additional training days.

If you have any questions about registration or training camp, please email Mike Healy at mike@bromleyoutingclub.com.
